For most parts of the country, it’s probably a piece of cake to pick a date and hold a yard sale—not so, here in New England. And if you’ve seen any of the weather reports over the past few weeks, you will see that Massachusetts has been having more than its fair share of wet weather.
So, after a month of each weekend being rained out, heavy rainfall, flooded basements and garages, the SITN officers anxiously watched ever-changing weather reports for last weekend. Late Friday afternoon, the yard sale scheduled for Saturday was postponed to its rain date of Sunday as Saturday was to have "morning showers", "clearing in the afternoon with an occasional shower possible as well." In true New England weather fashion, it rained NON-STOP Saturday -- from early morning to late evening. We hoped for the best on Sunday -- and it was a beautiful day. Sunny and breezy -- in the 60's ....
So, .... with Barry's music blasting throughout the day, we wheeled and dealed .... and raised $1,450 in sales. In addition, our donation jar totaled $200, bringing our grand total for the yard sale to $1,650.
Friends and family supported us greatly in so many ways—donations, tables, refreshments, encouragement.
And a HUGE thank you to our local SITN members who dragged out boxes, set up tables, donated their own change to our donation jar, talked with customers, and kept the energy level going throughout the day.
It was through these tireless efforts, from early morning to early evening, that made our annual yard sale another great success!!!
All proceeds from the yard sale will go towards our Gift of Music fundraiser for the girls of Germaine Lawrence. Please visit our web site at www.starsinthenight.com for more information on our charity and fan club.
Thanks to all who supported us, and thank you, Barry, for reminding us how important it is to give back to our community.

P.S.—The SITN officers wore with pride the Manilow Bowling Shirt, which was the talk of the day!!!
